These terms govern your use of Tariff Engineering Classification (https://tariff-engineering.shipcostlab.com), a free informational tool published by ShipCost Lab.

Access

The tool is free, requires no registration and no account, and is provided "as is" for informational use. There are no subscriptions and no fees.

Nature of the results

The ledger surfaces indicative HS-code alternatives computed from a versioned, date-stamped tariff dataset (WCO HS 2022, USHTS, EU TARIC, UK Global Tariff snapshots) together with precedent citations (CBP CROSS rulings, EU BTI decisions, court cases) and heuristic audit-risk scores. Results are not a customs ruling, not a binding classification, and not professional, legal, tax or customs advice. Tariff engineering is lawful only when the physical product genuinely matches the claimed code; misdeclaration is customs fraud. Always obtain a binding ruling or licensed broker / customs counsel review before filing under an alternative code.

Data accuracy

Duty rates, schedules and rulings change. Each result panel quotes the dataset snapshot date and flags stale schedules; verify against the official sources (USHTS, TARIC, UK Trade Tariff, CBP CROSS) before relying on any figure.

Acceptable use

You agree not to attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at abusive volume, or misrepresent its output as a binding ruling or as advice from a licensed professional.

Intellectual property

Site content, design and code are the property of the provider identified in the legal notice. Official tariff schedules and rulings cited remain public-domain government works of their respective issuing authorities.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the provider accepts no liability for filing decisions, duty assessments, penalties or losses arising from reliance on these indicative results. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Governing law
